What to expect

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Microneedling is a stimulation-based therapy for hair loss. Similar to platelet-rich plasma therapy and massaging, microneedling leverages acute wounding in balding scalp skin (via medical-grade needles) to evoke growth factors. Over time, these growth factors may help to:
(1) promote the formation of new blood vessels.
(2) reduce the appearance of scar tissue.
(3) promote hair follicle proliferation.

Microneedling – when repeated once or twice-weekly, and for 3-6 months – have been shown to greatly improve hair growth.

During microneedling,  we use a roller with needles on it.

Microneedling can provoke the release of factors that promote hair growth and directly stimulate hair growth as a result of the small injury caused.

A topical anesthetic can be applied to your scalp about 20 minutes prior to treatment. This helps to reduce any pain you may feel but it is optional.

The actual procedure time can vary based on the size of the treatment area, but it generally takes  30 minutes.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE IT?

Treatments should be undertaken once a week.

DO I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING?

Yes! You will be give a bottle of solution which contains 5% Minoxidil.

This must be applied twice a day (morning & night) for the entire length of your treatment.

ARE THE RESULTS IMMEDIATE?

No. This treatment can take around six months to take effect. Most people start seeing results within 1-2 months but everyone is different.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

Clients require treatments once a week for a duration of at least three months.  This is alongside clients applying the topical treatment twice daily.

After three months we can re-evaluate and if nessecary continue treatment for up to six months. If there has been a good response and adequate hair growth then you maybe able to go to top up treatments every two weeks which will eventually tailor off to monthly treatments.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE APPOITMENT?

A consultation will take place. This will include going over your written consultaion, including your historic hair loss and an examination of your scalp.

After examination you have your scalp cleansed and then microneedled.

Once this is complete the Minoxidil 5% soultion will be applied to your scalp.

You will then spend a duration of time under our LED therapy light to simulate the hair folicles.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

£50

For inital consultation and first treatment & hair loss solution.

All subsequent treatments charged at:

£25 each week

(One weekly treatment required each week for 3 months).

**Results can vary & cannot be guaranteed.

AFTERCARE GUIDANCE

Using minoxidil immediately after microneedling can potentially increase the absorption of the medication and cause more burning, itching, and irritation on the scalp. It’s important talk to your healthcare provider about when you should resume your topical minoxidil after treatment.

Your scalp may be more sensitive to the sun after treatment. Wearing sunscreen every day is recommended. A hat can also help protect your scalp when outdoors.

Another risk of microneedling on your head is the possibility of infection. While the needles are small, they’re still inflicting wounds.

You’ll need to follow your aftercare instructions carefully to prevent infection. Your aftercare often involves keeping the area clean for a few days, as well as using a prescribed topical or oral antibiotic to ward off bacteria.

You may be at an increased risk for infection if you have other serious health conditions or if you have a history of frequent infections.
